Dozens of K-pop groups are set to make their official debut in the entertainment scene this year. There are dozens, if not hundreds of K-pop girl and boy groups all vying for attention, but which ones should you be looking out for?
To get you started, here are our K-pop groups making their debut in 2023
1. BABYMONSTER
One of the most-anticipated K-pop groups of the year, BABYMONSTER has seven members, Ruka, Pharita, Asa, Ahyeon, Haram, Rora and Chiquita, who hail from South Korea, Japan and Thailand. They released their pre-debut single DREAM on May 14, 2023. The group also has a music video featuring scenes from the members’ audition and training sessions.
2. HORI7ON
HORI7ON is a brand new global K-pop act formed in the Philippines through the singing reality show Dream Maker. The seven-member group consists of Jeromy, Marcus, Kyler, Vinci, Reyster, Kim and Winston. On March 22, 2023 they released their first pre-debut single DASH, and on May 31, 2023 they released Lovey Dovey, their first digital single before their South Korean debut in June.
3. KISS OF LIFE
Four-member girl group KISS OF LIFE consists of Natty, Julie, Belle and Haneul, almost all of whom are familiar faces in the South Korean music scene. Natty and Julie were notable trainees, while Belle has composed tracks for other idol groups. Fans love their cinematic concept photoshoots, and their dramatic pre-debut trailer released on May 11, 2023. The group will make their debut in July 2023.
4. ZEROBASEONE
Hopes are high for this nine-member boy group, which was formed through MNET’s reality show Boys Planet. The group consists of Kim Ji-Woong, Zhang Hao, Sung Han-Bin, Seok Matthew, Kim Tae-Rae, Ricky, Kim Gyu-Vin, Park Gun-Wook, and Han Yu-Jin. The group has been quiet about their plans for their debut, except for a mysterious teaser video featuring Hao and Han-bin.
5. LUN8
LUN8 is an eight-member group that will debut in June 2023 under Fantagio. Its members are JINSU, CHAEL, TAKUMA, JUNWOO, DOHYUN, IAN, JI EUNHO and EUNSEOP. Fans are looking forward to seeing them performing live, thanks to their high-energy dance covers on YouTube.
