Netflix released a new video announcing the start of production for Season 2 of dark fantasy drama Hellbound. The video shows the cast and crew seated in the reading room. They have serious looks on their faces, as an ominous soundtrack plays in the background.
The caption reads: “Welcome back to a whole new hell”, signifying that more horrors lie ahead in the new season.
We are able to get glimpses of several of Hellbound‘s stars. This includes Kim Hyun-Joo, who is reprising her role as Min Hey-Jin. She will continue her fight against the evil New Truth religious organization in the new season.
We also get shots of Kim Shin-Rok. Her character Park Jeong-Ja who was dramatically condemned to hell during the series. At the end of the first season, she was brought back to life.
We also get several glimpses of Vincenzo and Our Beloved Summer actor Kim Sung-Cheol. He stars in the new season as New Truth founder Jung Jin-Soo, who was also condemned to hell in Season 1. The role was previously portrayed by Yoo Ah-In.
Anticipation for Hellbound fans
Hellbound was a major hit for Netflix when it premiered in 2021. The drama’s dark storyline dealing with religious zealotry and its dystopian setting captivated viewers around the world.
The return of those who have been condemned to hell is intriguing. Fans of Hellbound are eager to discover what will happen in the new season. There is also the question of how the New Truth will handle these shocking revelations, and what it means for the citizens of the world.
Netflix has yet to announce an official release date for Hellbound Season 2. However, it is likely that the earliest the new season will premiere is in 2024.
