KARA member Heo Youngji will be making her solo debut next month, becoming the latest second-gen idol to make their return to K-pop. Youngji announced the news through her agency DSP Media, along with the planned date for the release.
Born on August 30, 1994, Heo Young-ji, popularly known simply as Youngji, is a multifaceted talent. She has made her mark as a singer, dancer, entertainer, and television personality. Youngji gained fame as a Kara member after winning the 2014 TV show Kara Project. This victory led her to become the latest addition to the already established group.
DSP Media said in a statement: “Heo YoungJi is currently preparing for her solo debut, with the goal of a release in September.” Further details are expected to be announced at a later date.
Fans have been looking forward to her solo debut for some years. In 2017, she released her first solo single, Memory Clock, and said that she would be preparing for an official debut “soon”. However, there was no further news about her debut plans, until this latest announcement.
KARA reunited in 2022 for the group’s 15th anniversary. Last month, Youngji and her KARA group mates held a performance at the WATERBOMB Nagoya festival in Japan, as seen in photos shared on social media.
