TWICE’s Jihyo is hyping up the launch of her debut mini-album Zone, releasing a sneak peek performance and a 15-second teaser video. JYP Entertainment posted both videos on their official YouTube channel.
Zone features a total of six tracks. This includes lead single Killin’ me Good, Talking About It, Closer, Wishing on You, Room, Nightmare and Don’t Wanna Go Back, a duet with singer Heize.
The sneak peek performance video, posted on Aug 10, shows TWICE’s Jihyo in an empty concert hall. As she moves around various locations, Jihyo performs lines from all six tracks, while dressed in a white top with baggy jeans. The brief taste of the songs makes it clear that they are crafted to highlight Jihyo’s rich, sultry vocals. She ends the video dressed in a royal blue dress, staring into the camera as the beat for Killin’ Me Good plays.
Fans praised Jihyo in the comments under the video for receiving credit as a writer and composer on almost all the songs on Zone. Some of their statements included:
- Jihyo herself was a lyricist for 5 of the songs and composer for 4 of the songs. All around an amazing vocalist, dancer, song writer, composer, with amazing stage presence and visuals too.
- Jihyo filmed this album sneak peek #1 from 10:00 am – 8:00 pm. When also asked in Bubble on which song is her favourite, she said she can’t choose because she gave all of her heart and soul to every song.
- WOW, I had high expectations for this album but Jihyo went beyond! All the songs sounds fantastic, powerful which is perfect for her vocals and meaningful, I’m excited to listening it complete!
At 12AM KST today, Jihyo released a 15-second teaser for her lead single Killin’ Me Good. She sits in a car as rain pours down around her, and the music for the track plays softly. You can see the phrase ‘Killin’ Me Good’ written on the inside of the window beside her. She quickly wipes it off, before giving another sultry look to the viewer.
The teaser’s setting can also be seen in the concept photos for the album which Jihyo shared last week.
Fans will see how things unfold when Zone releases on Aug 18, 2023, at 1PM KST.
