K-pop girl group NEWJEANS cemented their chart dominance with a 5th music trophy for Super Shy at this week’s Inkigayo music program. The trophy was their 27th overall career music award.
The win came with a Double Crown for NEWJEANS, as their track ETA was in second place this week. This is the second Double Crown for NEWJEANS at Inkigayo; their tracks Hype Boy and OMG also finished in the top two positions in March 2023.
Fans flooded social media with positive comments. The hashtags #SuperShy5thWin and CONGRATULATIONS NEWJEANS were trending on X (formerly Twitter).
The win marks the latest honor for the global smash hit Super Shy. NEWJEANS promoted the song with a dance challenge that went viral all over the world. Even other K-pop groups have gotten into the act. Boy group ZEROBASEONE performed a dance cover of Super Shy during their KCON LA 2023 debut this weekend.
NEWJEANS’ chart success has been instrumental in making them one of the top K-pop acts around. All five members of the group was recently revealed to have made the Top 10 in this month’s Female K-pop Idol Brand Rankings. In fact, Minji, Hanni and Haerin were in the Top 3 positions.

NEWJEANS Debut in Japan
NEWJEANS added another win to their name by making their official debut in Japan. They were among the main stage performers at the Summer Sonic 2023 music festival in Tokyo on Aug 19, 2023.
The turnout for NEWJEANS’ performance was higher than anticipated, leading security to restrict entry to the festival grounds during their set. Despite the sweltering heat, a large crowd gathered to enjoy their performance.
NEWJEANS took to social media today to thank fans who watched them perform, and shared a photo of themselves taken at the event. The message, translated in both Korean and Japanese, read:
Bunnies~~ We performed in front of many people who came to the Summer Sonic festival yesterday! We were so nervous though! It was an exciting experience! Thanks to the incredible energy that we could feel despite the heat, we also got a lot of energy! Thank you! We hope you had a great time as we did!
