The new trailer for upcoming time travel romance K-drama A Time Called You has revealed a theme song OST performed by girl group NEWJEANS. This will be the girl group’s first ever OST appearance, and fans are looking forward to hearing the new ballad. The song is a NEWJEANS cover of Beautiful Restriction, originally by Kim Jong-Seo.
The trailer for A Time Called You also offers more details of the plot. The story centers around Jun-Hee (Jeon Yeo-Been), who is grappling with the loss of her boyfriend Yeon-Jun (Ahn Hyo-Seop).
One day, Jun-hee plays a mysterious cassette tape that transports her to 1998. She wakes up in the body of a high school girl named Min-Ju. She then meets a young man named Si-Heon who looks exactly like Yeon-Jun. It appears that Jun-hee’s desperate wish to see him one last time has somewhat come true.
However, there is an unknown factor in the form of In-Gyu (Kang Hoon). In-Gyu is their classmate and friend, but he is also in love with Min-Ju. He begins to feel jealous of Si-Heon’s attention towards her.
What the trailer reveals
The trailer begins with a scene of Jun-Hee and Yeon-Jun watching a movie. She asks him why he likes watching time travel films, in a meta moment. He explains that they are fun because “you can go back to the past and change the future.” We are shown more scenes of the two of them together, as his voiceover explains that he would like to tell his past self something before he met her.
We are then find out that Yeon Jun died in a road accident while listening to a cassette tape. Later, a grieving Jun-Hee listens to the same tape, and is brought back to 1998. We are then shown happy scenes of her as Min-Ju and her friends Si-Heon and In-Gyu. The music then cuts out as Min-Ju is almost hit by a car, and approached by a mysterious figure. An ambulance takes someone away, as a worried Si-Heon looks on.
The trailer ends with a scene of Jun-Hee and Yeon-Jun at a beach. He tearfully tells her: “No matter when and where you are, we will definitely meet again.”
All this promises plenty of heartbreaking moments for the audience, as they try to find out if Jun-Hee really can change the present. Find out, when A Time Called You premieres on Netflix on Sept 8, 2023.
