Netflix has rolled out the red carpet for its upcoming historical drama, Song of the Bandits, featuring an ensemble cast led by Kim Nam Gil and SNSD’s Seohyun. Set in the tumultuous era of 1920s Gando.
The series unfolds in the 1920s during the Japanese colonial era. The people of Gando find themselves stripped of their means of survival. Enter Lee-Yoon (Kim Nam-Gil), a bandit leader who joins forces with the Korean Independence Army and Joseon expatriates. United in purpose, they wage a relentless battle against Japanese forces to reclaim their homeland and protect those they hold dear.
A Tale of Rebellion and Survival
The first character poster introduces Kim Nam-Gil as Lee-Yeon, an ex-Japanese soldier turned rebel leader. He helms a group of bandits with a singular mission—to reclaim land from the Chinese and loot the Japanese. SNSD’s Seohyun portrays Nam Hee-Shin, a once-independent lobbyist who now leads a righteous army in a Korean town within Gando.
A Riveting Ensemble
The drama also stars Yoo Jae-Myung, Lee Hyun-Wook, and Lee Ho-Jung, each bringing their unique skills to the table. From guards to gunslingers, the characters form a compelling narrative that promises high-octane action.
A Prelude to Chaos
The main trailer sets the stage for an epic showdown. The series actively features a well-armed band of rebels, led by Lee Yun, who stand ready to defend their homeland. As rumours circulate about assets being shipped for the Gando Line rail line, tensions rise, and alliances are tested.
Song of the Bandits is set for a September 22, 2023 release on Netflix.
