EXO member Xiumin has been revealed as the final artist to join the lineup for the upcoming 9Wave Music Festival taking place on Nov 11, 2023. He will be sharing the stage with previously announced artists (G)I-DLE, Hyoyeon, Shaun and Henry. K-pop boy group THE BOYZ, who were previously hinted as part of the lineup, will not be performing at the festival.
The music festival will be held at the Sunway Surf Beach in Sunway Lagoon. The seating plan and ticket prices have already been revealed, and further ticketing details are expected to be announced soon.
In the meantime, here’s a quick rundown of the artists confirmed for the 9Wave Music Festival:
Shaun (real name Kim Yun-Ho) is known for his smooth vocals and catchy melodies. His music is described as a mix of chillwave, indie pop, and electronica.
He debuted in 2010 as the keyboardist and backup singer of the indie rock band The Koxx. In 2018, he released his solo debut EP, Take, which featured the hit single Way Back Home. The song topped the Gaon Digital Chart and became one of the best-selling singles of the year in South Korea.
Shaun has since released several more singles and EPs, including Give Me a Kiss (2019), Steal the Show (2023) (feat. Jeff Satur), and All About You (2023). He has also collaborated with artists such as Sam Feldt, Conor Maynard and Malaysia’s very own Yuna.
Henry (also known as Henry Lau) first came to our attention as a member of the South Korean boy group Super Junior-M. In 2013, he began his solo music career, releasing his debut solo mini-album, Trap. The album was a commercial success, and its title track became a hit in South Korea.
Henry is known for his eclectic music style, which incorporates elements of pop, R&B, hip hop, and classical music. In addition to his music career, Henry has also acted in several films and television dramas. He is also a popular variety show guest, and he has hosted his own variety shows, such as Real Men and I Am the Best.
Hyoyeon is best known as a member of the OG girl group GIRLS’ GENERATION. In recent years, she has been making waves as a solo performer, releasing tracks like Mystery (2016), Sober (2018), and Second (2021). She has also established a second career as a DJ, performing at music festivals and clubs around the world.
In addition to her music career, Hyoyeon has also appeared in several television shows and variety programs. Her most notable TV appearance was in the singing reality competition Good Girl in 2020.
Last year, she dropped her highly-anticipated first EP Deep, and this year she released the sultry Picture, which fans are expecting her to perform at the 9Wave Music Festival.
Fans of (G)I-DLE are excited see them return to Malaysia after their world tour stop in Kuala Lumpur last September. The group is known for experimental and diverse music, blending genres such as hip hop, EDM, and pop.
Last year, (G)I-DLE released their first studio album I Never Die, and dropped their sixth EP I Feel this May. Members Miyeon, Minnie, Soyeon, Yuqi, and Shuhua are renowned for their talent as performers. They have also pushed the boundaries of K-pop with tracks like Tomboy and their recent hit Queencard.
Xiumin debuted as a member of EXO in 2012 with the group’s debut EP, Mama. EXO quickly became one of the most popular K-pop groups in the world, and Xiumin’s popularity grew along with the group’s.
Xiumin later debuted as a member of EXO’s first sub-unit, EXO-CBX, alongside Chen and Baekhyun. EXO-CBX has released two EPs and one full-length album, and they have toured throughout Asia.
In 2022, Xiumin released his debut solo EP, Brand New. The EP was a commercial success, and it spawned the hit single Brand New.
