Actor Jung Hae-In, known for remarkable performances in serious dramas, is in talks for a lead role in the upcoming rom-com Some and Shopping (working title). The plot revolves around a CEO and a TV show host who start out as enemies, and eventually fall in love.
A report by media outlet Star News stated that Jung Hae-In has been offered the role of Lee Hae-Seok, the CEO of a natural skincare brand. The character is described as an intelligent, fun-loving person who has always achieved success. Jung Hae-In’s agency, FNC Entertainment, confirmed the report and said that he is “currently reviewing” the offer.
This will mark Jung Hae-In’s first foray into the rom-com genre. Despite being recognized for romance dramas like One Spring Night and Snowdrop, he has never taken on a comedy role before.
In an earlier interview, Jung Hae-In was asked about the possibility of starring in such a role. He replied: “I’ve never done a rom-com before, so I want to try it.”
A decade of unconventional roles
Jung Hae-In made his acting debut in 2013 with Bride of the Century, and quickly gained recognition for his performance. Since then, he has taken on a variety of roles. He played a homophobic soldier with anger issues in Prison Playbook and a young single father in One Spring Night. In July, he reprised his role in the second season of the gritty military drama D.P.
His exceptional talent earned him the BaekSang Arts Award for Most Popular Actor in 2018. He also won the Best New Actor award at the 56th Daejong Film Awards for Tune In For Love in 2020.
As Jung Hae-In considers Some and Shopping, fans are looking forward to seeing him in a romantic-comedy role. This would be a new achievement to add to his already impressive career.
