The event, is part of the retrospective exhibition ‘Takashi Murakami: Murakami Zombies’ at the Busan Museum of Art.
The Artist’s Love for K-Pop: A Light-Hearted Moment
During the two-hour artist talk, Takashi Murakami openly expressed his admiration for K-pop, particularly the group NEWJEANS. When asked to address the Korean audience, he humorously stated, “I am a fan of New Jeans. I would be grateful if you could meet me once,” eliciting laughter from the crowd.
A Dream Come True: The Subsequent Meeting in Japan
Fast-forward a few months, and the iconic Japanese artist’s wish was granted. NEWJEANS met with Murakami in Japan, much to the artist’s delight.
