In a recent turn of events, actor Jo Jin-Woong is reportedly in discussions to take on the lead role in the upcoming drama series No Way Out. According to Korean news reports, Jo Jin-Woong will replace Lee Sun-Kyun in the role.

Jo Jin-Woong has confirmed that he is currently reviewing the script, and is considering the role offer. This was confirmed by his management, Saram Entertainment.

The actor has previously starred in various television and film productions. Besides the internationally-acclaimed Park Chan-Wook film The Handmaiden, he also starred in the hit drama series Signal and Entourage. He will next be seen in the Netflix original movie Believer 2.

About No Way Out

This latest casting news is the latest development for No Way Out, a highly anticipated drama that revolves around the aftermath of a notorious criminal’s release from prison. A public bounty of 20 billion won is announced for his assassination, leading to a series of thrilling events.

In August, Lee Sun-Kyun was announced as part of the star-studded cast, alongside Yoo Jae-Myung, Kim Moo-Yeol and Lee Kwang-Soo. He achieved international acclaim as one of the stars of the Oscar-winning Parasite, and was the lead in the indie film Sleep, which premiered at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival.

Lee Sun Kyun

Sadly, Lee Sun-Kyun’s involvement in the project came to an end following a recent drug scandal. Early last week, Incheon Police confirmed the actor’s marijuana use and subsequent payments to his drug dealer. He is also banned from leaving Korea while investigations are ongoing.

Drug scandal extends to K-pop world

The investigations into Lee Sun-Kyun have also involved BIGBANG member G-Dragon. The singer was booked by the authorities on similar drug-related charges after his came up during the course of investigations.

Since then, G-Dragon has denied the drug charges and has pledged to cooperate fully with police investigations.

In the mean time, fans are eagerly awaiting further updates on the casting for No Way Out and the drama’s production.
