FIFTY FIFTY is set to undergo a significant reorganization. ATTRAKT, the agency behind the group, has announced plans to reshape FIFTY FIFTY, focusing on Keena, the only original member who recently returned to the agency. The restructured group will still consist of four members, with Keena being joined by three new additions.
The decision to reorganize comes amidst a backdrop of legal battles and controversies. FIFTY FIFTY first made their mark earlier this year when their song Cupid catapulted them to global stardom. However, behind the scenes, things were less than rosy.
Conflict with Attrakt
In June, the group sought a provisional disposition to suspend their exclusive contracts with Attrakt. There were also accusations that group members were asked to join rival agency The Givers, which had helped to promote them overseas. In August, the Seoul Central District Court denied the members’ requests to suspend their contracts. Despite this setback, the group immediately appealed the decision.
Then, in a surprising turn of events, Keena withdrew her appeal and decided to return to ATTRAKT in October. Following Keena’s return, Attrakt terminated their exclusive contracts with the other members, Aran, Sio and Saena.
Despite the legal challenges, FIFTY FIFTY’s fame remained undiminished. Both the group and Cupid received nominations in various music award shows in recent months. Most recently, FIFTY FIFTY were nominated for two categories at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards, Top Duo/Group and Global K-pop Song. It has been confirmed that Keena will attend the awards show, which takes place on November 19, 2023.
What now for FIFTY FIFTY?
Keena’s decision to return as a member of FIFTY FIFTY under Attrakt has sparked curiosity among fans, who are keen to see how the group evolves with its new lineup. As the group prepares for its next phase, the music world watches with bated breath.
