Dream Academy announces lineup for new girl group, KATSEYE

The much-anticipated finale of The Debut: Dream Academy has unveiled the six members of its new international girl group KATSEYE. The event was graced by industry giants including HYBE chairman Bang Si-Hyuk, IGA Chairman & CEO John Janick, HxG President Mitra Darab, Geffen VP of A&R and Marketing Charlie Christie, and HxG’s Executive Creator Son Sungdeuk.

The finale kicked off with a major announcement: only six of the talented contestants would make it into the new group. The judges, looking for dance, vocal prowess, star quality, attitude, and team chemistry, had their work cut out for them.

First up, Daniela, Megan, Emily, Marquise, and Yoonchae wowed the audience with their original song, Girls Don’t Like. Christie commended Emily’s remarkable growth and chose Daniela as his top pick for her consistently impressive performances. Darab highlighted Yoonchae’s progress despite language barriers, favoring Megan for her captivating presence. Son applauded the group’s teamwork, giving special mention to Marquise and Megan, ultimately selecting Megan for her standout performance.

Next, Manon, Lara, Samara, Ezrela, and Sophia performed Dirty Water, another original hit. Christie chose Sophia for her relentless self-improvement and leadership qualities. Darab echoed this sentiment, praising Samara but selecting Sophia as her top choice. Son ultimately picked Lara for her unique ability to uplift the team.

This was soon followed by a performance of All the Same by all 10 contestants. Bang and Janick then appeared in a prerecorded message, offering their congratulations and praise to the contestants.

The climax of the show was the revelation of the final lineup: Sophia, Lara, Yoonchae, Megan, Daniela, and Manon. The group’s name, KATSEYE, was also announced, having been chosen with input from the contestants themselves.

With this exciting announcement, the world eagerly awaits the debut of KATSEYE, set to take the global music scene by storm in 2024.
