Ambition and revenge are all part of the game in The Impossible Heir, a dark new K-drama currently streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. Featuring a talented cast and an intriguing script, The Impossible Heir is set to become one of the most talked-about dramas of the year.
Han Tae-Oh (played by Lee Jae-Wook) is an ambitious young man with a troubled past who befriends Kang In-Ha (Lee Jun-Young), the neglected and illegitimate third son of a chaebol family. Together, the two hatch a plan to take over the company and claim their places at the top of the societal food chain.
However, their plan runs into a snag, in the form of an equally ambitious young woman named Na Hye-Won (Hong Suzu). A dangerous love triangle develops between them, threatening to derail their plans forever. In the end, who will triumph, and who will fall?
Experiencing life like a chaebol heir
Last week, several lucky guests were able to attend a special premiere screening of The Impossible Heir in Kuala Lumpur. The event, which took place at The Colony Coworking Space KLCC, also gave them a taste of the luxurious chaebol lifestyle.
Guests had the opportunity to design their own perfume scent, letting them capture the essence of their personality. They could also have a one-on-one session with a color analyst who advised them on what outfits and colors would help them look their corporate best.
Finally, they could have their image drawn by one of several artists hired for the occasion. There were also several photo spots for them to snap a picture to commemorate the event.
The Impossible Heir premiere screening
Guests then sat down for the first two episodes of The Impossible Heir. The tense, well-written storyline and the performances by the stars held their attention from start to finish. Besides a potential love triangle, the characters must also grapple with numerous challenges in their quest for corporate and social dominance.
Both Lee Jae-Wook and Lee Jun-Young had amazing onscreen chemistry together, while Hong Suzu gave an intriguing portrayal of a woman who would do anything to succeed, even if it means pitting both men against each other.
Watch the coming episodes of The Impossible Heir to find out who will eventually make it to the top. The series streams every Wednesday and Thursday, exclusively on Disney+ Hotstar.
