FIFTY FIFTY’s Split: A Bitter Battle Looms

The once-promising K-pop group FIFTY FIFTY is now embroiled in a bitter dispute. The original members have since divided into two distinct groups. The fallout from this split has led to legal battles, fan boycotts, and uncertainty about the group’s future.

The Original Four

FIFTY FIFTY originally debuted with four members: Keena, Saena, Aran, and Sio. Their breakout hit Cupid propelled them to global recognition, reaching No. 17 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

However, in October 2023, Aran, Sio, and Saena left FIFTY FIFTY after terminating their exclusive contracts with Attrakt. This move sparked a legal battle between Attrakt and the three members, with accusations of breach of contract and attempts to poach the group.

New Groups Emerge

The remaining member, Keena, stayed with Attrakt and is set to make a comeback with a new lineup of FIFTY FIFTY members on September 20th. Meanwhile, Saena, Aran, and Sio have signed with IOK Company and will debut as a separate trio under a new group name.

Fan Reactions and Boycotts

The split has left fans divided. While some remain loyal to Keena and the original FIFTY FIFTY, others have expressed disappointment and frustration with the situation. A significant portion of the original fanbase, known as Hunnies, have initiated a boycott of Attrakt and the new FIFTY FIFTY lineup, using hashtags like #NotMyFiftyFifty and #BoycottAttrakt.

The legal dispute between Attrakt and the three former members is far from over. The first hearing for the lawsuit is scheduled for August 29th. The outcome of this case could have significant implications for the future of both groups.

The Road Ahead

As the two groups prepare for their respective debuts, it will be interesting to see how fans react and whether either group can recapture the same level of success they achieved as a united front.
