Min Yoongi, better known as Suga, a member of the global K-Pop group BTS, has been fined for driving an electric scooter under the influence of alcohol.
The incident occurred on August 6, 2024, when Suga was caught by police riding his e-scooter near his home in Seoul. A breathalyzer test revealed his blood alcohol content (BAC) exceeded the legal limit for driving in South Korea.
Fined But Not Formally Charged
Following an investigation, the Seoul Court issued a summary order imposing a fine of 15 million Korean won (approximately USD 11,200) on September 30, 2024. This signifies a lesser offence compared to a formal DUI charge.
Fan Reactions
News of the fine has sparked mixed reactions from BTS’ devoted fanbase, ARMY. While many express disappointment in Suga’s actions, others offer support and hope for him to learn from this experience.
